These Terms govern your use of InWorld·Online (the “Platform”). By creating an account or using any part of the Platform you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you operate land through the Platform, the additional Landlord Terms also apply.
About this document. It’s longer than the boilerplate most platforms publish because the Platform actually follows it. We’d rather be specific about what we do and don’t promise than leave it vague. If anything is unclear, send an in-world IM to InworldOnlineSupport.
1. The service
The Platform helps Second Life residents manage virtual land, rentals, areas, Discord guilds, bots, and subscriptions. The Platform is independent and not affiliated with or sponsored by Linden Research, Inc. Second Life® is a trademark of Linden Research, Inc.
2. Your account
- You must be at least the minimum age permitted to use Second Life in your jurisdiction.
- You are responsible for keeping your account credentials and two-factor codes secure.
- You may not share your account or use someone else’s account without their permission.
- You may delete your account at any time from your account settings.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Platform, or any personal bot you run through the Platform, to harass, defraud, or harm other users;
- attempt to bypass access controls, scrape data outside the Platform’s public surfaces, or interfere with other tenants’ ability to manage their land;
- upload malicious content, attempt to break the Platform’s systems, or probe for vulnerabilities without prior written authorisation;
- use the Platform to violate Linden Lab’s Terms of Service or any applicable law.
4. Payments and L$
Land subscriptions and other paid features are billed in L$. Once a payment has been processed by Linden Lab, it is final. Subscription renewals are notified before the renewal date so you can cancel if you wish to. We retain payment records for the period required by accounting law.
5. Content
You retain ownership of the content you post (chat messages, guestbook entries, support requests, area descriptions, and similar). By posting it you grant the Platform the rights necessary to display it to the intended audience and to retain it according to the retention schedule in the Privacy Policy.
6. Termination
You can stop using the Platform at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, threaten other users, or expose the Platform to legal risk. On termination, your account is scrubbed according to the Privacy Policy — payment records survive under legal obligation.
7. Service quality
We make a real effort to keep the Platform running smoothly, but cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free — particularly because the Platform sits on top of Second Life and a small number of third-party services we do not control. Where an issue lies within our own infrastructure, we will work to resolve it as quickly as is practicable. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses (lost revenue, lost opportunity). Mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence apply regardless.
8. Changes
When we change these Terms, we update the version date at the top and prompt you to review the new version on your next sign-in. If you do not accept the new Terms you may delete your account; continued use after acknowledgement constitutes acceptance.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable at the Platform operator’s registered seat. Mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence are not affected.
